How to start a conversation with someone at church
Regardless of denomination a church is fundamentally a society bound together by a common belief system. The vast majority of churches have a self appointed mandate to share their faith. As such the member will usually go out of their way to welcome newcomers. This applies to newcomers who are firm in the faith along with people who may be attempting to learn more. This welcoming attitude spans across the religious spectrum including Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, and Judaism.
When dealing with peoples religious beliefs and ceremonies it is important to keep in mind that some of the tenants and practices are considered sacred. If you are in unfamiliar territory do not hesitate to ask for direction or guidance on the appropriate way to act. Asking for help shows respect even if you do not understand.
Most cognations have a formalized or informal social gathering surrounding the meetings or services. Below is a list of question that would be appropriate in a religious environment.
